Tobias Leonhardt studied English, Sociolinguistics and Sports Science at the University of Bern (Switzerland). He graduated in 2013 and has been working as an assistant in Modern English Linguistics. His main research interests are post-colonial Englishes, ethno- and anthropological linguistics, language variation and change, phonetics and phonology (specifically acoustic phonetics, sociophonetics, first and second language phonology). In 2015, he started working as a PhD student at the University of Bern, on a project focussing on the history, development and structure of Kiribati English in Micronesia. He formally completed the PhD project in early 2019.
