Dominique B. Hess (Bürki) studied English, Business Administration and Mathematics at the University of Bern (Switzerland). In 2013, she completed her M.A. in English Languages and Literatures with special focus in Linguistics and continued as an assistant in Modern English Linguistics at the University of Bern. In 2016, she also completed her teacher training at the PHBern for Sekundarstufe II. Her main research interests are sociolinguistics, studies of contact languages, post-colonial Englishes, grammatical variation and change in English dialects, corpus linguistics, second language acquisition, English as a Lingua Franca as well as language planning and policy. In 2015, she started working as a PhD student at the University of Bern, on a project focusing on the history, development and structure of Saipanese English in Micronesia. She formally completed the PhD Project in 2019. Currently, she is working as a research assistant at the Center for the Study of Language and Society (CSLS) at the University of Bern and at the PHBern, Sekundarstufe II.
